Presidents of Finland — Lauri Kristian Relander 5 €
This collector coin pays tribute to Lauri Kristian Relander (1883–1942), who was the second president of the Republic of Finland, holding office in 1925–1931. The obverse of the coin bears a portrait of Lauri Kristian Relander. The reverse features a landscape of Finnish fields framing an open book depicting a constructed urban environment. The motif symbolises the president's mandate from the people. All coins in the series will share the same reverse. The collector coins are designed by Tero Lounas. By decision of the Ministry of Finance, Mint of Finland released in 2016–2018 a series of base metal collector coins with a nominal value of EUR 5. The collector coins of the Presidents of Finland series issued in 2016 and 2017 featured in the Finland 100 programme celebrating the centennial of Finland's independence. The series include a total of nine coins paying tribute to the presidents of Finland, with the coins of K.J. Ståhlberg, L.K. Relander, P.E. Svinhufvud, Kyösti Kallio, Risto Ryti, C.G.E. Mannerheim, J.K. Paasikivi, U.K. Kekkonen and Mauno Koivisto. The coins have been granted the Key Flag Symbol of Finnish origin. Issue date: 18.07.2016
